TAB voiced strong support for the
prohibition of this type of signage. In addition, applicant stated the goal was
to attract attention from the 215. He said attention would be 2-3 seconds. An
average vehicle travelling at the posted limit would travel nearly the length
of a football field while the driver gazed at the animated video screen
proposed. Several states have banned such signs along freeways due to the
safety issue. While not yet banned here, TAB also expressed strong concerns
that approval would create a significant safety hazard for travelers.
