SWAN EMAILS KEEP YOU INFORMED

SWAN emails keep you informed about land use issues throughout the urban Southwest Clark County. SWAN has grown from being the “voice for the RNP’s,” to being the “voice of Southwest Clark County,” representing residents and homeowners in both master planned communities and rural Neighborhood Protection.

SWAN IS YOUR EARLY WARNING SYSTEM

SWAN is in front on the issues that affect your neighborhood in Southwest Clark County. This means you can join SWAN and affect the development of the townships of Enterprise and Spring Valley. SWAN is forming new committees to work on master plans, overlays, and changes to Nevada zoning and planning laws. Why is this important? These laws affect us all.

Please support SWAN's work on behalf of your community

SWAN's Board of Directors meets once a month, usually on Sunday afternoon. Contact us to verify the date and time and for details on the next meeting.

WHAT IS THE TOWN ADVISORY BOARD

Government is complicated. It’s hard to keep track of all the proposed developments and to make sure you have a voice in the process. The Town Advisory Board is a panel of citizens that reviews all zoning and land use issues BEFORE they go to the County. It is your own personal Early Warning System. The Town Advisory Board is a great resource for YOU.

HOW CAN YOU USE IT?

Sign up for SWAN’s bi-monthly email notifications that will tell you what is being introduced at the TAB level. When you spot an issue you have an opinion on, attend the TAB meeting and raise your concerns. Developers have learned to pay close attention at these meetings so that they can work out compromises with concerned homeowners before they take their projects before the County. Prior to the TAB meetings you may view the Board's agenda. Follow the link provided at left to go to the TAB web pages and click on "Meeting Schedules, Agendas, & Minutes". Also, check our Agenda Watch page for alerts on upcoming and current items before the TAB's.

Generally, The Enterprise TAB holds public meetings at the Windmill Library at 7060 W. Windmill Ln. at 6:00 pm on the Wednesdays following the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. It is wise to visit the web site of your Town Advisory Board (links at left) for further information and to verify dates, times, and places. You may also call 702-507-3760 x3 for more information.

Clark County Planning Staff develops an Agenda Sheet and provides dates for TAB, PC and/or BCC. The agenda sheet contains the project description, information on the surrounding area and recommendations. The agenda sheet can be obtained prior to the TAB by contacting Current Planning. Include the Application Number e.g., NZC-0878-10

Documents submitted with an application can be found at: Land Use Documents. The application number UC-0399-08 would be entered as 08-399. The year is entered first. Then the item number is entered with no leading zeros. The application type is not used.

FOLLOW UP

SWAN members receive notice of the TAB results with advice on what to do next. If you are in doubt CONTACT SWAN at 702-837-0244 or email  swan@lvswan.org,  and get guidance about how to make sure your government factors your concerns into its decisions on development. SWAN is often able to facilitate meetings between applicants/developers and cummunity members to work out our concerns. SWAN's service and effectiveness in these matters has been acknowledged by the TAB and County Commissioners.

The CLARK COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION and
The BOARD of COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Applications go from the TAB's to either the Clark County Planning Commission (PC) or to the Board of County Cmmissioners (Zoning Commission) (BCC). SWAN’s follow-up bi-monthly email will notify you what has happened with applications at the TAB and what action is needed next to deal with the application at either the (PC) or the (BCC). This information is also available later on our Agenda Archive page. You are also able to read more complete texts of the applications online at the Clark County web site at:  Planning and Zoning Agendas or by going in person to the Clark County Government Center Current Planning desk.

The Planning Commission meetings are scheduled on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:00pm. For more information call: 702-455-3414.
The Board of County Commissioners zoning meetings are scheduled on Wednesday at 9:00am following the first and third Tuesday of each month. For more information call: 702-455-3500.
Both these meetings are at the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, Las Vegas. Take I-15 North to the West Charleston / S. Grand Central Parkway exit. Keep left and cross the Parkway. The road curves and then turn right onto S. Grand Central.
